We are a secret society to protect our members, not to hide our practices. We do NOT have a single practice therefore there are few rituals. We are a group of metaphysical, spiritual and magical practitioners in the Fresno area. We are Witches by practice and/or religion, including, but not limited to , Witchcraft as a religion. Witchcraft as a practice and not religion, Hoodoo, Christian Witches, Wiccan Witchcraft, Metaphysical workers, Lightworkers, Druids, atheist and many, many more! Some of us are Pagan some are not and NO ONE is expected to be an expert in ANY practice, weather that’s the practice of their choosing or the practice of another in this group. We are a spiritually inclusive group who bind together to make the craft stronger and richer as a culture. Find our public page on Facebook Central California Black Hat Society. DarkStar is an autonomous Gardnerian coven located in Sacramento, California. Gardnerian Wicca is an initiatory, oath-bound, orthopraxic, Witchcraft tradition that traces its roots to and through Gerald Gardner – who was the father of modern Wicca. In DarkStar we worship the Gods and practice the Art of Witchcraft.
There are many misconceptions about traditional covens. Suffice to say here that being in a tradition does not mean that we are rigid or consider ourselves better than other Witches. We may have some ritual liturgy in common with other Gardnerians, but many of us are innovative as well. As a group, our focus in DarkStar is experiential – we do not do things exactly the same way at all times. We acknowledge that there are many other forms of Witchcraft - we are simply called to this particular path for personal, spiritual, and magical growth.
DarkStar is led by Kalisha Zahr and was founded in 2001. The coven leaders have had decades of experience in the Craft prior to forming the current coven. Our Gardnerian ancestry goes back to Eleanor Bone, one of Gerald Gardner's High Priestesses in England. Our credentials can be readily confirmed via our extensive worldwide community upon request.
DarkStar Coven is an inclusive group that embraces diversity. We are open to seekers of any race, gender, or sexual orientation. We believe in equal rights for all. Otherwise, we tend to leave most politics at the door.
We will consider Seekers who are the right fit for us – if we are the right fit for them. You must be over 18 years of age, of good character, have reliable transportation, be able to meet 2-3 times a month, and be willing to make a serious commitment as a member of our chosen family.
The following words of the late Gardnerian Michael Thorn express our views on what Wicca is: “Witchcraft is a life-affirming, earth- and nature-oriented religion which sees all of life as sacred and interconnected, honors the natural world as the embodiment of divinity, immanent as well as transcendent, and experiences the divine as feminine and often as masculine, as well. Like the spiritual world view and practices of Native Americans and Taoists, Wiccan spiritual practices are intended to attune humanity to the natural rhythms and cycles of the universe as a means of personally experiencing divinity. Rituals, therefore, coincide with the phases of the moon, the change of the seasons, solstices and equinoxes and days which fall in between these such as May Day and Halloween. This calendar of celebrations is referred to as the Wheel of the Year. Most Witches consider their practice a priest/esshood, akin to the Mystery Schools of classical Greece and Rome, involving years of training and passage through life-transforming initiatory rituals. In Wicca, we have very strong ethical standards and beliefs... We feel that anything that you do, whether it be good or evil, will eventually return to you.”

Merry Meet and Welcome to the San Diego North County Pagans!
We’re a community that supports those who walk all paths, from Shamans, Druids, Witches and Wiccans, to Buddhists, Hindus, Occultists, and Neo-Pagans. We welcome a wide variety, from solitaries to covens and informal groups to anyone with an open mind.
We are not an online group. We encourage our members to be active and contribute!
The organization team, or Guardians, and other local groups and circles contribute to help us celebrate the Sabbats, or the turning of the wheel, and a yearly camping retreat. Some of the other types of meetups we have offered are healing circles, divination parties, classes and day trip adventures.
We welcome all experience levels from newbie to High Priest/ess. We are family friendly but we also recognize that adults need some fun too, so we'll have multiple kinds of meetups to accommodate.
All of our meetups are free with a few exceptions of donation for supplies or the annual camp-out reservation cost.
We will be implementing a membership cap in October 2019 as our direction shifts. For the security and privacy of our meetup, we have implemented in-person vetting before membership will be granted. What this means is that a Guardian will contact you and coordinate meeting up with you in a public space. You must be vetted to gain access to the group. We are willing to work with you if none of the dates work with your schedule.
This is an eclectic community, recognizing that no one single approach to the Divine is the "right" or "true" way. We all have things to teach, inspire and share with each other. Please have patience, tolerance, respect and compassion for your fellow members. We're all here to learn and grow.
We're based in Southern California, North County San Diego, approximately from Oceanside to Escondido and south towards Encinitas and Poway.
