This is a gallery of Catholic Chromo-Lithographs that are used by some practitioners of Haitian Vodou to service the Lwa. Not all practitioners use this imagery nor is it the same for each house.
Let’s face it; Syncretism happens in religions for a multitude of reasons. Catholic Saints have been syncretized with African Gods or Spirits and Pagan Deities syncretized with Catholic Saints. One interesting example is in Mexico where the Saint known as El Niño is viewed by the Mexican Indians as the indwelling spirit of the Psilocybe Mushroom, called by the same name.
